A_Train Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 So does anone use (and like) those BOB (XL) standing bags? I was thinking of getting one for kicking, but I've read that some people don't think they are worth the cost. I already have a Century Brand 70 lb heavybag from the ceiling which I use quite often. But the bag is not of the best quality (it is canvas) and it has gotten very hard in the bottom, and soft in the top due to settling. The bag is less than a year old, I didnt think it should settle this fast.I aslo find the when performing side kicks on a ceiling heavybag it begins to sway too much and I have to stop it. I was thinking that a standing bag like BOB would be better for this type of thing, as well as proper targetting and simulating a sparring target.I read some old posts in this forum but they seemed to focus more on the wavemasters bag instead of the Century BOBs.Any thoughts are welcome. I play a wrestling game online. If you'd like to play follow this linkhttp://www.thewrestlinggame.com/wg.asp?w= 133896
bushido_man96 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I am not a big fan of BOB bags. They are ok, but your money may be better spent on just the standing wavemaster. BOB is nice for a cool target every once in a while, bit if you want to get more benefit out of the bag, then the regular round bag is the way to go, IMO.For you hanging heavy bag, I would recommend the wavemaster as well. The water won't have the settling problem, and it should give a good long life as well. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Holland Posted October 16, 2006 Posted October 16, 2006 I really like the wavemaster XXL's....for 200 bucks I don't think there is a better bag on the market.
elbows_and_knees Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 in general, century equipment sucks. As far as bob goes, it sucks too. However, I will say that bob is AWESOME for training uppercuts and hooks, as you have a realistic surface to train them on. They are far superior to heavy bags in that respect, but fall seriously behind in all others.
