TigerCrane Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 The title pretty much explains it all. Let's not include the projectile / modern weapons. We're strictly talking about Martial Arts weapons.I think the Kwan Dao is the best weapon to use, and it is one of the most spiritual weapons. Gong Kiu, Yau Kiu, Bik Kiu, Jik Kiu, Fun Kiu, Ding Kiu, Chieun Kiu, Tai Kiu, Lau Kiu, Wan Kiu, Jai Kiu, Deng Kiu.
daizyblackbelt Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 i'm personally very fond of the bo. most of my posts end up relating to it somehow....but it's more or less useless in close quarters, or in a confined area.though ideally no one would EVER get close enough to make it a close quarter fight if i have a bo, at least not without a broken bone or two.Following that, for short range, i'm torn between a knife and a pair of sai. Sai (used correctly) are extremely brutal and effective. But i'm also rather fond of my spanish navaja (knife).
ff100 Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 I agree with Daisy... I also love the Bo and in the right environment is unbeatable so holding that in my hands with a Katana (for midrange) and Chucks housed in my obi.
lordtariel Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 but it's more or less useless in close quarters, or in a confined area.Well, you just gotta break the bo over your knee or someone's head and go at it escrima style. Seriously though, I would say there's no one "superior" weapon, just a superior wielder. A pair of sai's would be lost on me since I don't know how to use them as well as I would a pair of tonfa, which someone else might not know how to use. For myself though, I would be most effective with a bo. There's no place like 127.0.0.1
unknownstyle Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 non blade i would have to say bo, blade would be katana. but you can find something to be used as a bo alot easier than a sword "Live life easy and peacefully, but when it is time to fight become ferocious."
Syphax Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 What is defined as a "superior" weapon? Truly, any weapon can be superior; it all depends on who is using it.
TigerCrane Posted October 20, 2006 Author Posted October 20, 2006 You're right that there is no "superior" weapon. That's why in my title I wrote "In Your Opinion". Gong Kiu, Yau Kiu, Bik Kiu, Jik Kiu, Fun Kiu, Ding Kiu, Chieun Kiu, Tai Kiu, Lau Kiu, Wan Kiu, Jai Kiu, Deng Kiu.
Syphax Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Well if you are asking what my favorite weapon is I would have to say the staff. Although I enjoy using the sword quite a bit, I always fall back on my staff work.
Master Raiden Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 If you were to give me a situation, perhaps I could better answer this question. For instance if I were taking down a man on a horse, it doesn't take a lot of sence to know you'd want a spear. If I'm going at it in an apartment building, I might opt for a ninjitsu katana. Be like water -Bruce Lee
cathal Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 I would definitely say that the sword is the superior weapon in conventional hand-to-hand combat. In modern conventional warfare however the sword is greatly outmatched by automatic rifles, artillery, etc. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
