lordtariel Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 Not sure if this should be in the weapons forum or here...Sometimes when I've been to tournaments, I've noticed that different weapons have scored higher, seemingly on the fact that it's a specific weapon. Anyone experience this bias in their own circuits? There's no place like 127.0.0.1
cathal Posted September 28, 2006 Posted September 28, 2006 The tournaments I've seen, daggers seem to be preferred. Otherwise swords, and then the nunchucku .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
bushido_man96 Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I think swords tend to be the most popular. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Rick_72 Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 Bo is king of the tournament. I think mostly because its still pretty practical, and its not hard to make look very powerful. Most of the other weapons really take some skill to make them look like you could actually hurt your oponent with them (obviously their all very dangerous, but take different skill levels to actually wield correctly).
bushido_man96 Posted October 12, 2006 Posted October 12, 2006 I would like to see something in the form of double stick or stick and knife, or stick and short sword. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
aefibird Posted October 13, 2006 Posted October 13, 2006 At a lot of the smaller tournaments I've been to sword forms seem to score the highest, even if competitors with other weapons have done better forms. Sword forms tend to score the most, then nunchaku, then kama. Obviously it depends on individual practitioner skill as well as the complexity of the form being performed, but generally that "pattern" is the norm. Seems judges at certain tournaments think swords are the be-all and end-all. :-/ "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..."
