impossible directory name?

have you ever tried to make a directory (folder) name "con" in XP?

I never have till you posted...funny, why won't XP allow it?

the answer goes back to old DOS , "con" is a reserve name for controlling keybord and monitor there used to be a command like

>/ mode con ....

i guess XP looks at "con" as a port name like "LPT1"

also the copy con filename.text

it stands for console, so basically in dos when you use the copy con command it will copy what ever is type in to the console (dos box) in to the file name specified.

i think the f6 button stopped the imput
