Karate_Dad Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 (edited) Okay I'm a little confused... Nothing new there but... the Kake Geri is the "hook kick" Similar to Mawashi geri but striking with the heel. Pic here This is not to be confused with the Kakato geri or heel/axe kick often used by TKD practitioners. This is the technique that is being discussed. Fumikomi Geri, the Stomp kick or stamping kick is found in Tekki Shodan. So, OrionRyu are we talking about the correct thing? I suspect it's either the Kake Geri or Kakato geri the former I believe to be the more difficult one to execute. The Kake geri does have the illusion of a change in direction that you refer to. Brandon Fisher Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 That is correctKake Geri - Hook KickKakato Geri - Axe KickFumi Geri or Fumi Komi - Stomp Kick (which I was describing) I have gotten in trouble for correcting people so I quit doing that. I just describe what I think they are talking about. Brandon FisherSeijitsu Shin Do
jaymac Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I know in our dojo, our kake geri is a hook kick, and not an axe kick. It may be different in other schools though. A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.
Jiffy Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 oh! I'm very sorry. It's typically refereed to as a cross or stomp kick.Kake Geri means literally "hooking kick".If you're looking for a stomp, it's called fumikomi The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
