dagger throwing

Recommended Posts

hey for those of u who practice arts that envolve daggers are any of u actually tought how to throw daggers and objects like them. i know people who can throw daggers, shurikens, etc. and they say its in how u flick ur rist when throw it. but these people i got that from taught them selves SUPPOSEDLY. are any of u actually taught how to throw daggers and if u are is what i listed about the techniques, for throwing daggers correct or is it a different concept to do besides how u use ur wrist

also, can those concepts be applied to throwing other things, such as a baseball for example.

you must learn different combinations of techniques down to your very soul and they must come without thinking when you finish with one technique, you must immediately go into another until you have attained your goal which is to destroy the enemy.

I think that every object has a way of being thrown, and you can't assume that throwing a baseball is the same as throwing a knife. You are looking for different results in each, so the wrist movement will not be the same.

I tried an axe throw at a RenFest one time, and I thought it was pretty cool. The guy at the booth explained to me that you had to keep the wrist locked upon release, otherwise the axe would head towards the ground, instead of travelling straight. I would never have assumed that, had I not had the opportunity to try it.

One way to learn is through experimentation. Get a few different objects, and practice with each to figure out how to throw them best. It isn't absurd to assume that someone could teach themselves to throw a knife, especially if they become accustomed to one certain weapon.

Trowing knifes is cool...but sounds like a circus show :P , but I love it...

I did not study trowing things..but learn ( poorly), trying and trying at home with darts , knives etc.

When I go to the woods with friends we compete and who loses , pays the beer and bbq. We ussually use Normal camping axes and Combat knives....But knives made for that , travel better in the air.

´´ The evil may win a round , but not the fight ´´

well they were right about flicking the wrist because ive heard that from begginers to masters I myself would love to learn but have no one to teach me so i am also self trained, but i have nothing to throw but rocks so that will do for now.

the best fight is one that doesnt happen

the only thing is, whos going to be walking around with daggers? When would anyone ever use them, besides at the dojo.

Some daggers are probably small enough to keep on your person, so they make more sense to learn how to use than some bigger weapons that you can't carry without being seen, like a bo.

Yeah, I have a set of them that have a wrist sheath and are pretty small. You have to be careful though, I read an article on throwing weapons for self defense and there were some pretty weird laws about them. I'll try and dig up that article.

There's no place like 127.0.0.1
