bushido_man96 Posted February 13, 2007 Author Posted February 13, 2007 Well, the season is over, but the NFL never really rests, does it?The big news this week (as far as my limited knowledge takes me ) is with coaches. Andy Reid of the Eagles is takings a 30 day LOA to address some issues with his two oldest sons. I hope things turn out ok for him. In the long run, I don't think this will affect the team too much, unless things go south in a hurry. The other news comes from the West Coast. Marty Schottenheimer was fired by the Chargers on Monday, after posting the best regular season record in the league, and not to mention Chargers franchise history, at 14-2. Apparently, the Chargers are going to start over completely with the coaching staff, because they lost several assistants prior to firing Marty. They lost Cam Cameron and Wade Phillips, along with the Linbackers coach and tight ends coach. I think that the Chargers may really be hurting, because most of the coaching vacancies in the league have been filled, and I am not sure who is left looking for a job at this point. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
baronbvp Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 I'm thinking Mike Singletary or James Lofton. Look for Baltimore's defensive coordinator, Rex Ryan, to get a look. Jim Mora Jr signed with Seattle as the secondary coach and asst head coach. I'll bet Holmgren retires after next season and Mora fleets up. He still may get a look by the Bolts, but he wants to stay home in the Pacific Northwest, as he made so clear on the radio show that cost him his job in Atlanta. bushido_man96 Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 The Chargers have got permission to speak with Ron Rivera from the Bears, and they have already, I think. They also got permission to speak with Singletary, and I think they did so today. I did hear that Rex Ryan was interested as well, as you said, and I think they will interview Jim Mora as well. There has also been talk about Norv Turner, who installed their current offensive system. Personally, from a team continuity standpoint, I think Turner would be the way to go, and attempt to hire Singletary or Ryan as a defensive coordinator.Does Ryan run the 3-4? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
baronbvp Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 No, I believe he switched the Ravens from Mike Nolan's 3-4 to his own 4-3. He has certainly done some amazing things there. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.
seersin Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 yeah, maybe Im biased being a Cincy fan but..........don't wanna vent to much of my aggrivations on the Ravens. ISAIAH 53:5

If it isn't broke, don't fix it, you know? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
baronbvp Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 True enough. But I think they've been running the 4-3 for two seasons now. It would/will be interesting to see if he does that with Merriman like he did with Ray Lewis. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. bushido_man96 Posted February 17, 2007 Author Posted February 17, 2007 True enough. But I think they've been running the 4-3 for two seasons now. It would/will be interesting to see if he does that with Merriman like he did with Ray Lewis.I think San Diego has been running the 3-4. That is why Jerry Jones hired Wade Phillips to coach the Cowboys...3-4 defense guy.Imagine with Merriman and Edwards back there, tearing up the 4-3, man, what a mess those two make! That is an offensive schemeing nightmare, right there. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
baronbvp Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 That's why I think Ryan might have the inside track. Those guys could be off the hook. Imagine a wicked defense like that running around in their classic light blue throwback jerseys. Oh, man. That's back-in-the-day Jack Lambert or Lyle Alzado type pain. patusai Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 Hey,You guys finished 8-8 with a very decisive win over Chicago in week 17,I was wishing that we had a chance for a playoff...cause we would have lit them up a second time...coming through Chicago twice! In week 17 Grossman was the Packs most valuable player I think. "Don't tell me the sky's the limit because I have seen footprints on the moon!" -- Paul Brandt
