The problem with the OT seems to be the field goals.  So how about this.  No kicking game in overtime.  The team that wins the toss, if they receive, possess the ball at their own 25-yard line.  Then it is first team to score.  No field goals, no kickoffs, no punts.  You can only win by a TD or a safety.  If neither team scores after 10 minutes the game ends in a tie.

That would probably work well.  I'd say keep the punts in the game, because playing defense is a strategy all it's own, and the way the rules are laid out in the NFL with offense being favored, short fields like that would be a huge disadvantage.  I say just let the quarter play out in it's entirety.

While I’m not a Raiders fan at all, I purchased 3 tickets yesterday for the Raiders VS 49ers pre-season game to be held here in Las Vegas at the Allegiant Stadium on August 16th, Saturday, at 1pm.

My wife, Linda, is a die-hard Raiders fan her entire life…she’s no taste obviously and if she did, she’d be a Cowboy fan like our son, Nathan, and me.

Linda has never ever been to a live NFL game, especially a Raiders game, and Nathan and I have never been inside Allegiant Stadium as a “fan”.

Regular Raiders home game tickets are not cheap, about $300 and up per ticket…OUCH!! For the pre-season tickets I purchased yesterday I spent $383 total…$99 per ticket, $56 for fees, and $30 for protecting the tickets. We’ll park off site about 1 block from the Stadium.

GO COWBOYS!!

:P

This got me thinking, where does it cost the most (and least) to attend an NFL game.  According to USA Today this was the order in 2024:

1. San Fransico - $750

2. Las Vegas - 745

3. Philadelphia - 673

4. Green Bay - 659

5. New England (Foxboro) - 620

6. Chicago - 615

7. Kansas City - 613

8. Denver - 609

9. Seattle - 605

10. Pittsburgh - 603

11. Tampa Bay - 601

12. Washington DC (Landover, MD) - 595

13. New York (Giants) - 589

14. Dallas - 580

15. Minneapolis - 575

16. Cleveland - 566

17. Los Angeles (Chargers) - 549

18. Houston - 547

19. Baltimore - 543

20. Carolina - 540

21. Los Angeles (Rams) - 536

22. New York (Jets) - 532

23. New Orleans - 520

24. Jacksonville - 516

25. Tennesse (Nashville) - 508

26. Indianapolis - 504

27. Detroit - 496

28. Buffalo - 493

29. Atlanta - 487

30. Miami - 480

31. Cincinatti - 474

32. Phoenix - 452

Keep in mind this is the average total cost per person, prices have many variables such as seat location, opponent, sale vs resale, cost of parking, ect.

It'll be interesting to see how the Aaron Rodgers scenario plays out in Pittsburg.  They aren't normally a team that makes short-sighted decisions like this, and I'm not sure that Rodgers pushes them over the top into championship territory.  I think Mike Tomlin typically has a pretty tight locker room, and in the past when egos have been an issue the Steelers have been more willing to let the player walk as opposed to cater to them.  It just seems to be a move outside of their normal culture standards.

I don’t see Rodger’s taking the Steelers any further than where they ended up last season…not being able to advance from the Wild Card. Why?? I just don’t see that from Rodger’s.

Seems kind of desperate, they don't have any other real option at QB and coach Tomin, while a good coach who has the team in the playoffs every year, has not gotten his squad to an AFCCG in a while.  Always high expectations in Pittsburgh and at some point they are going to get tired of being just good enough to make the playoffs but not good enough to make a deep run once they get to the playoffs.  Maybe this changes that, maybe it doesn't.
