Well the Lions are screwed. Sports Illustrated put them on the cover and predicted them to win the Super Bowl. Just when the Lions finally get good, SI decides to put the curse on them.
 Well, you never know! They might break the curse!

Curse or not, 66 years since earning an NFC Championship, way back in 1957, the year I was born, is quite a very long time of looking in. The Lions curse just might stand against time.

11 playoffs for the Lions, since 1957, came with quite some surprise back in 2016. The Lions made it to the NFC Championship after having bested the Rams and Tampa Bay, but the 49ers shattered the Lions dreams.

66 years is some draught!!

But hey, the Chicago Cubs ended their 108-year curse by winning the World Series against the Cleavland Indians, 4-3 games back in 2016. So, if the Cubs knocked off the curse monkey off their backs, then there's no reason that the Lions can get the curse monkey off their backs.

:)

**Proof is on the floor!!!

Just in case the Lions needed any help screwing things up, here comes SI to the recue. :D

Takes any NFL team to win anything, especially, the Super Bowl. Should the Lions make it to the Super Bowl, and the Lions lose the Super Bowl, it'll be the Lions and not SI's fault.

However, a curse is a curse is a curse no matter who set the curse in motion, one has to believe in the curse. In Lions case, 66 years is 66 years is 66 years.

Lions may have won 4 NFC Champions, pre-Super Bowl, but at least they are in the small fraternity of 11 other NFL teams that have never been in the Super Bowl.

Lions are one of four teams to never make the Super Bowl along with the Browns, Texans, and Jaguars. Lions are the only team in the league that have existed during the entire Super Bowl era and never made it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Now with week one in the books, how are you feeling about your team? I always think week one is the toughest to predict and often the sloppiest week of the season.  Lots of penalties in the games this week, that should improve as the season goes on but it does get frustrating watching games that have so many penalties.  We see too many penalties all season.

I did not enter an elimination league this year but of the few people I know who did have already been defeated.  They all had the Bengals beating the Patriots.  In one league 66% of the people picked the Bengals as their pick of the week, so on opening Sunday afternoon already 2/3 of the league is done for the season.

If your team lost, don't worry, it's only one game.  Last year KC lost the opener and won the Super Bowl, in other years teams have looked bad in week one and even week two but went on to have great seasons.  Also, if your team won, don't get too excited, it is the same deal.  The 2003 Vikings started 6-0 and missed the playoffs.  Week one doesn't tell us much, typically.

KC's offense looks better equipped than last year.  Xavier Worthy appears to be worth the draft pick, and will hopefully help take the top off of defenses, which was sorely missing last year.  Still, have to finish some more drives so games don't stay so close.  That was a nerve-racking finish.

Cowboys season opener was on the road to face the Browns; Cowboy/s won 33-17. I did expect more of a game out of the Browns because last season they were 2nd in the AFC North, 11-6, and even though the Texans beat the Browns in last year's Wild Card Playoffs, the Browns seemed to have no UMPH whatsoever.

GO COWBOYS!!

Tua took another hard shot tonight, left with another concussion.  Hopefully he'll be ok.  They are really stacking up on him.  That was a rough game for him.
