Does anyone know of events happening in the NYC area? I am trying to keep updated on all this stuff, so if you know of any appearances, tournaments, seminars, etc. going on in or around NYC, Jersey City, or that area, let me know. Thanks

On Sept 30th there is the Nagle AOKA tournament in Bayonne.

I heard that Gary Alexander may be having a benefit seminar in the near future.

Next June in Princeton the Isshinryu WKA Championship.

Is that open to only AOKA students?

AS far as I know, anyone can compete as long as you pay the entrance fee.

Info page:

My family has been to and competed in the past two. It's a well run event. If we can clear a prior commitment we might even make it this year.

There are some other events held regularly throughout the year.

BKG tournament in Lincroft, NJ in early June.

Golden Rule Tournament Oxford, NJ in February.

Sensei Hughes School of Isshinryu Tournament in April . Though he's running the World Tourney end of June in Princeton so there might not be the April tournament.

The info page for the Nagle AOKA event has links to registration (though you could register at the door), rules, divisions and the driving directions to the venue (Marist HS). $40 for kata, weapons and kumite. It's $10 less than it was last year.
