bushido_man96 Posted September 4, 2006 Posted September 4, 2006 I once went to a JuJitsu school and they tell you straight away, expect about 10 years to get to black belt.wow that's hardcore. though if a school told me that i'd actually find it quite encouraging.I have been reading up on the BJJ, and they do claim this. I would love to be able to get into it, I don't care how long it would take to gain rank. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
juey palancu Posted September 5, 2006 Posted September 5, 2006 It took me about 8 years of hardcore training to achieve shodan at my dojo. Three more for nidan. This is more or less how long it has taken for everyone trainign under my senseiIt was sometimes disheartening to advance slowly, but the payoff was great. We would go to tournaments and meetings and as brown belts we would wipe the floor with shodans and nidans from other dojos.it's better to be regarded as an exceptional brown belt than as an undeserving black belt in my opinion...not that the color of the belt really counts for anything, really...
