AndrewGreen Posted September 21, 2006 Posted September 21, 2006 All depends on the school. If you went to a BJJ school with a sport JJ focus, you might never do kicks. On the other hand a BJJ school with a Vale Tudo / MMA focus probably would do striking quite a bit. Andrew Greenhttp://innovativema.ca - All the top martial arts news!
Iceman Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Well, there is some kicking/punching involved, but the focus lies on the groundwork (specially with BJJ, that I did).I think it's about 80%-20% - The Road to Perfection never ends...
Zapatista Posted October 21, 2006 Posted October 21, 2006 Since this is already a Jiu-Jitsu/jujitsu question thread I'll add on to this instead of making a new thread. Are there kata's in BJJ? Are there some in JJJ? I'd like to learn BJJ but I don't want to learn any katas.
ps1 Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 No. BJJ does not teach or contain any kata. Some JJJ systems have kata, but not in the same sence you would see in a karate class. They require two people. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
