RichardHangHong
I used to compete with just Empi or Seipai before. I still like to use Empi, but I've got to get back down to 10.5 or 11 stone/70kg (currently 12.5 stone/80kg) before I can start using it well again. Shui Tora
^ yeah; Empi puts a lot of strain on your joints, especially the beginning... Though I could never get that jump right...Saying that; last night i got it spot on! w00t! But when my Sensei asked me to do it again, I ended up on the floor! (oh dear! But even monkies fall out of trees!) RichardHangHong
I love Empi. When I did it at the last tournament I nailed the jump. Got a great photograph of me mid-jump about 3.5 - 4ft in the air! Awesome! alsey
enpi is easily my favorite kata, its got everything i like in kata in it. i've been practicing it several times a day for about five years now. the jump is awesome once you get it sorted. Zorbasan
sometimes in class, sensei or sempai will take us through some advanced kata just for something different.i love the jump in empi, being former TKD with a jump kick specialty, i can usually get it pretty close. Now you use head for something other than target.
Jiffy
That isn't Empi Zorbaru. The jump in Empi is just a Shuto-Uke. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
Zorbasan
yeh, i know that, but being proficient at jump kicks has helped me develop a good leap which is going to make any jumping technique easier for me. Now you use head for something other than target.

GOM
Depending on what kata my opponent does dictates what kata I will do. I may have to save a great kata for the later rounds, or I might have to use it straight up, depending on the quality of my opponent. In saying that, my favourite kata for competition are Suparenpei, Annan, Heiku and Chatanyara Kusanku.
