Sorry for venting!!!!

Do you have the RIGHT to be upset? I'm not sure at what you are upset. If it's your instructor for not testing you before you were diagnosed with asthma, I'd say no. He didn't test you then for a reason, but it wasn't to jip you out of getting your BB before your diagnosis. Upset at yourself for getting asthma? That would be a waste of emotional energy. It happened, & there are great meds out there to help it be a non-issue in your life. Upset at the disease? Sure. Take the meds & listen to your Dr. & it will be manageable.

I'm 38 years old & was diagnosed at age 4. I started TKD at 14. I've had setbacks & struggles (& had to have my inhaler nearby during tests) in my life. I can only imagine the shock of a diagnosis when you're older & planning on the "big test." I'd encourage you to not spend too much time being upset, & try to figure out with your Dr. & instructor how get past it. Remember, "Perserverance" & "Indomitable Spirit" are 2 of the tenents of TKD. This is where they come in handy. You can overcome, my friend :karate:

I am not a "typical" ashtma patient. For my I am out of breath at any kind of physical activity. Like walking a flight of stair. I am totally exhausted. An inhaler does not help me at the point. I am still in the process of testing. This is why I was told to stop all sports.

As for being upset, I am upset at my instructors because I was told I will not be tested this past Feb becasue I was the ONLY student to be tested. MY instructor told me I was ready in Nov 05 but had to wait till Feb 06. I am not upset at getting Ashtma. Nothing I can do about it but to learn how to go forwards which I intend to.

As for being upset I think you have a right to be more disappointed than really miffed. Sounds like one of those curve balls life throws at you. Like I often say... "Reality is interfering with my life." As for the asthma thing it sounds like you've got an unusually severe case. I would recomend seeing a specialist in either astma or a pulmonologist if you aren't already. If an inhaler doesn't help at all then it's a bit worse than something a GP should be handling.

Getting a blackbelt just says you have learned the basics and are ready to actually study the form as an art.

Remember, that which does not kills us only makes us stronger. Rather than being upset, chanel that into motivation to overcome.

This is how I live my life. I just needed to get it out of my system. As for seeing specialists, my brother is a Respitory Theropist and I am under great DR. Care. Again, I am only about 2 months into the testing and there is a way to go. I will NOT give up and in fact I plan to take my test, when I am able to, with class and style.

Update.....I went to class last night and did what I can with the Masters knowledge of my limitations and felt good. I was selected to teach Koryo to a Deputy Black Belt. Being I know it well. Then I found out that this student is going for her test in November this year and I am not. a 2 year black belt. Needless to say, I WENT OFF. I told the Master how wring it is and he could not understand why I am so upset. The fact that I am teaching BB form to students and not being selected to test for it. I am NOW officially looking for WTF schools in the Phila area. Any help is appreciated.

I'm sorry to hear this. This must be very difficult for you. I wish you the best in your search for another school.

You mentioned you WENT OFF....

Have you attempted to explain the situation in a cool and calm manner. Perhaps try another way of attacking the situation, or another way of explaining your feelings.
