Usually if someone gets the first hit in, usually wins right. unless they block and strik back, but lets get real whats the probability of that happening? I would like to hear your opinions...

Thanks, Andrew

Sometomes so, sometimes not so. In MOST cases, between inexperienced fighters, yes, the first strike usually determines the victor.

You want to get a good quality strike in. Punch to the side of the head, tough guys can take it. But a good strike on the nose, bloodying it, and tearing up the eyes, causes distractions as well. It is quality that counts.

To answer the title, Absoloutly!!

Right is whatever works.

Wrong is whatever doesn't.

As for first hit.... see here....

In my opinion, yes, the first well landed blow will determine the outcome.

If an agressive person comes towards me, I will try to maintain enough distance where he cannot hit me without having to move forward thereby giving me enough time to react. If a fight is unavoidable, I will hit first.

I am quite certain that striking first in a street fight will likely have at least one result:

YOU will be the one convicted of assault in court....

Not necessarily. At least in Wisconsin, a preemptive strike is permissible by law. If you can orate the circumstances and show that you believed the other party to pose an imminent threat on your safety, the court will generally find your actions justified.

If someone raises their fist toward me in anger, I will hit them. If someone holds a weapon to me, I will definitely hit them. If two menacing individuals corner me, and I believe that they mean to cause me harm, I will hit them as well, and repeatedly, if necessary.

If someone points a weapon at me, they have already made the first strike. If someone raises their fist at me, they have already made the first strike. If I am cornered by two thugs who intend me harm, then they have already committed assault according to the law, so they have already made the first strike.

You place a lot of confidence in the judicial system. I assume you haven't ever been hauled into court for being in a fight. I have, and you are not given the benefit of the doubt as easily as you think.

Regardless, better make sure you have witnesses and a spotless record before you strike first in any situation. As well as the number of a good attorney.
