Prodigy-Child Posted July 27, 2001 Posted July 27, 2001 if muay thai was developed for the battlefield how come there is no ground fighting along with the unarmed and armed techniques? You can boo me if you want, You know I'm right!-Chris Rock
thaiboxerken Posted July 27, 2001 Posted July 27, 2001 There are some ground techniques in Muay Thai, the art.. not in the ring. Also, ground fighting isn't emphasized on the battlefield because if you spend too much time on the ground, you'll get trampled by horses or stabbed by an enemy other than the one you are grappling with. Muay Thai was developed from Krabi Kabrong and the battlefield. Just kick 'em, they'll understand.- Me Apprentice Instructor under Guro Inosanto in Jun Fan Gung Fu and Filipinno Martial arts.Certified Instructor of Frank Cucci's Linxx system of martial arts.
Danny boy Posted July 27, 2001 Posted July 27, 2001 Ken is 100% right,Krabi Krabong was fought with weopons which is more for the battleground, muay thai was more for the soldies to train amongst and compete with each other without too much injury. I personally wouldn't want to be grappling on a battlefield with a bunch of guys with swords and knives. Alot of double sword or stick play with the kicks mainly to push your opponent back to get a good shot with your blade. Most Martial arts are from the development of war, either protection or attack.
Angus Posted July 27, 2001 Posted July 27, 2001 I'm definately gonna have to get me into some Muay Thai... Angus Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear, not absence of fear.
