This was the choice of the movie director (or producer) who practised Goju-ryu. Curiously the stunt double for Pat Morita was Fumio Demura, a Shitoryu expert.

He trained in Tang Soo Do in Korea and taught at Chuck Norris' school in Sherman Oaks, California.Pat Johnson brought in Fumio Demura to double for Pat Morita.
