bushido_man96
My feeling on the chucks is that they make a great show, but have too many weaknesses if you come across a weapon of any length. If someone came at me with chucks, I would take off my jacket or shirt if I had to, and try to get it caught in the chains and yank it away. However, I could be wrong, and with proper training, maybe it could be a very viable weapon. I do feel strongly that it does not match up well against other weapons. Just my opinion. They are fun and flashy to watch, though. Fun to use, if you can keep from smacking yourself. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Scotty
Yeah they are great fun, it's why I've kept it up for so long. But I've done other weapon disciplines and I found that I could probably take out someone at the same skill level as me who was using nunchucks. Only a guess there, as I've never sparred with my weapons before. It just seems that using nunchucks puts you at a disadvantage as soon as another weapon comes into play The best armour is to keep out of range. lordtariel
Someone in our dojo just started chucks and sensei was showing him applications and such. I was suprised at how effective they are for entangling someone either by the arm, neck, or leg. While not necessarily the best weapon, I now believe it's an effective weapon for someone who knows how to use them. alsey
does anyone here know that they work extremely well as a grappling weapon.yeah, i'd say that's what they're best for. however i've always thought that if you're grappling, you can't really beat a knife. Oh, I totally forgot how awesome I am! hahaha...yeah, right. Anyway, my Sensei spent like 20 minutes with me one time, teaching me how to pull a nunchaku out of someone's hand while they're spinning it. You have to wait for the down-swing, then be really fast, grab the cord, and jerk it down and out. Eventually, I got it.So, there's a weakness of it.'course, when you mess up on that, it hurts like crazy. Brandon Fisher
Don't forget when tai sabaki is used to defend with the nunchaku the weapon becomes very effective. If one tries to go linear with someone with a longer weapon the effectivness goes down. Whats my point?? Well some say they are some say they aren't. From my experience many are not real wel versed in their use. Someone who is well versed in their use and are very good with them they are one of the most effective weapons. Someone who has limited training and only looks at one use of the weapon they are not that effective. Its all in ones experience with them.
