Jeet Kune Do Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 "Learn to hit, without being hit" -- Bruce Lee A drop of sweat spent in practice is a drop of blood saved in a battle.A person who say it cannot be done should not interrupt the man doing it.
lordtariel Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Well, since I've started tonfa, I've throughly conditioned my upper arms and elbows. The bruises have finally started to go away. Got a couple good thwacks to the head with the bo when I was messing around and twirling it. Never really had any problems with the dao, but sliced my fingers a bit with the gim. Also ruined one of my favorite shirts the first time I used my gim because I didn't realize the blade was oiled... but that wasn't an injury. There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Shui Tora Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 Whatever you do, do not put pressure on a bokken near someone's eye (this happened to me)...Someone decided to put more pressure near the kissaki (the pointy end) and luckily it missed my eye, but it caught my eyebrow, and so a trip to the hospital was in order (the nurses were very nice! ) And I had 9 stitches put in! So remember lads! If you even want a trip to the hsopital (or just to see the nurses there Do what happened to me....)Boy; that was a trip to remember! To know the road ahead; ask those coming back... ~ Chinese Proverb" The ultimate aim of Karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants. cathal Posted August 19, 2006 Posted August 19, 2006 I've hurt myself with the Tonfa & bo, same places as everyone else. But I did manage to trip myself with my bo once. Very embarassing. :/ .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
