Menjo Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 (edited) On National Geographic there is going to be a scientific analysis of various martial arts.Even though I think its a horrible representation of martial arts, it sounds pretty accurate for a invidual martial artist. But it’s defiantly interesting.Heres the link to the site:http://www9.nationalgeographic.com/channel/fightscience/The Show is broadcasted on August 20th. parkerlineage Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Hm...I may watch it, just to see how it is. American Kenpo Karate- First Degree Black Belt"He who hesitates, meditates in a horizontal position."Ed Parker
Bluetulipx Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I would like to see this but it notes America times. I did try to find comments about when it would be shown in the UK but did not see it. Perhaps I am not looking hard enough?Anyone know when it might be shown in the UK?Thanks
Jiffy Posted August 16, 2006 Posted August 16, 2006 This is actually quite old. It's previously been called XMA - Extreme Martial Arts. It was originally made by the discovery channel. If you can't wait till then, just look it up on Ebay, there are heaps of DVD's being sold with this on.It's a great programme. Goes a lot into the mechanics of it. They do some testing which is interesting and all the graphics are done by Animatronics (the people who did the Matrix). The story line of the guy they follow around is a bit rubbish, but the programme on a whole is great! The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.

Anywho, I think this show will have a little different take on it, analyzing individual moves, and the destructive force behind them.I am interested in seeing it. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Jiffy Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 The XMA one I saw covered that sort of stuff too. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
Jiffy Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 Having said that, I would definately watch it again!! The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
TigerDude Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 I saw a preview on the Today show yesterday here in the States. They combine crash-test engineers with Martial Artists to analyze the forces involved. They showed a quick clip of a Muay Thai knee strike to the chest. The graphics look similar to a show I saw a while back about martial arts weapons. On the surface, it looks worthwhile. If you think only of hitting, springing, striking or touching the enemy, you will not be able actually to cut him. You must thoroughly research this. - Musashi
cathal Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 It's informative, but they focus too much on the story line of XMA, Mike Chat & Matt Mullins. Then again, they have to balance interest & entertainment along with all the information. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
Scotty Posted August 18, 2006 Posted August 18, 2006 If it's the one I'm thinking of they had simulations of fights between different styles of martial art and different weapons. It was interesting, but not very informative! The best armour is to keep out of range.
