Jiffy Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 KK was fantastic for quotes. Daniel - "Can you do that?!?"Miyagi - "Don't Know. Never been attacked by tree"Anyway, so we don't hijack the thread, look here...http://www.fast-rewind.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=1;hardset=0;start_point=0;DaysPrune=0 The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.

Steve_K Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Someone may have already made this point but...Robert Mark Kamen, who wrote the Karate Kid, studied Goju Ryu, and though he didn't directly say it, if Mr. Miyagi's style were to have a name, it would probably be Goju Ryu. Not only because Kamen studied it, but the blocking system Daniel is taught reflects it's philosophy, being that he learns both hard (wax on/off, sand the floor) and soft (paint the fence/house) blocks. Also Miyagi's ki power reflects that which is sometimes associated with Goju Ryu.I think someone said this earlier, that the Miyagi family kata is one that probably came from Fumio Demura, the stunt man for Miyagi, I think his style is Shito Ryu.
bushido_man96 Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 Ah, thanks for the info, Steve_K. That sheds some light on it! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Zorbasan's quote sites were cool, too. Man, I need to get that box set. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
