bushido_man96 Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Regardless of what you choose, what Im implying is that already having experience in a standup style, he would benefit more by crosstraining in a style that focuses on grappling rather than striking. As to which striking styles he should do, Im not fond of many, so I'll leave that discussion to be.I understand the point that you are making, ninjer, and it is very good advise. Learning the different striking arts can be great, if you like to study the differences between each of the arts. Sure, you will gain a few little things here and there; the nuances of each of the styles. However, when it comes to gaining knowledge in other ranges of combat, i.e., striking, clinching, and grappling, branching into another art that focuses on these aspects will benefit you more. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
marie curie Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 If you are looking for something similar like TKD, I wouldn't commit myself to any contracts... It's just a thought, but I had a hard time with TKD because I'd done karate for 4 years, and some of the nuances of what they taught were different, and in my eyes wrong. I ended up just attending/doing enough to pass the class ( I took it at school )But I've found that cross training with some grappling really supplements what I've already learned.Good luck!
