islandman Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 Things to remember while performing! Be assertive(loud ki-ahp)Have a low and good stanceDon't go through the motion of any techniqueHave passion (it will impress the judges)Always have a strong attack(unless the form calls for a slow attack or technique
jaymac Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Also, don't trip over your feet before you get to the judges to announce yourself. It just looks stupid and everyone laughs. A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.

cathal Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Don't rush.Be patient.Let your technique speak for you. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
KamasandSais Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Know the form you are performing "Sword-Chucks yo."Yes, thanks a lot guys. Hey, kamasandsais, that was something that you knew that I did not!! <---blackmail hahahahhaha bushido
Jiffy Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Remember, that it anyone can make a mistake, but it takes a good practitioner to hide it The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
KamasandSais Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Remember, that it anyone can make a mistake, but it takes a good practitioner to hide it i usually hide mine with a good long pause (no one else try this it makes your score lower). "Sword-Chucks yo."Yes, thanks a lot guys. Hey, kamasandsais, that was something that you knew that I did not!! <---blackmail hahahahhaha bushido
Jiffy Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 In all seriousness if you make a mistake, just continue on. One of my old training buddies once started with one Kata, got completely mixed up and finished with another Kata..... and none of the judges noticed!!! The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
Zorbasan Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 i always tend to listen to "eye of the tiger" and "Your the best" from the karate kid soundtrack before going in to competition (any kind, not just MA)it may sound funny, but what i mean hear is get inspired before competiting, dont just compete for the hell of it. Now you use head for something other than target.
Jiffy Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 What about the rocky theme?!? Come on.... that's gotta help!!!Just don't listen to mission impossible, I don't think the judges would appreciate you absailing from the roof then darting around the matt on all fours with a ray gun. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
