MizuRyu
I agree with the finger break. When people try to break fingers they get stupid sometimes and bend them back. Bend them to the side from the middle, use your hand's leverage to displace the middle knuckle joint instead of focusing on where the finger is the strongest, near the palm. That should get em off. Jiffy
Finger locks are definately the easiest and one of the most effective to apply..... if you can get hold of one. When their hands are clenched tight, this is sometimes quite difficult. Gotta watch you don't get a little over-active in class too. Fingers break easily. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
elbows_and_knees
The best thing you can do is try to lift them and then slam them back into the ground. That's what I would try. In a real fight, if they're trying to work a choke, I'd try grabbing the fingers and cracking a few.Or reaching back and grabbing the groin.from the position he's referring to (and most others) grabbing the groin either1. isn't possible, or2. isn't practicalIn the first case, if his hip is pressed into your back, you can't access his groin region anyway - your own body is shielding you from it.in the second case, you are not only leaving your face and head even more open for attack, you are giving him your arm so that he can lock it and break it.If he's trying to work a choke, fingers are a bad idea too.1. he may use a closed fist when he reaches around your neck2. your best bet is to fight the choke, not worry about his fingers. If you reach for his fingers and miss, or find that his fist is closed, you may have just given him the time he needs to sink in the choke.wrestling has a few good escapes from the position you are referring to. TigerDude
Spike's UFC night had this just last night. I don't remember the fighters, but 1 guy repeatedly got out of back control by keeping one of the guy's arms trapped & remaining calm. Of course, this is with UFC rules that don't allow strikes to the back of the head. If you think only of hitting, springing, striking or touching the enemy, you will not be able actually to cut him. You must thoroughly research this. - Musashi
alsey
well, i tried out the thing shotokan kid was talking about this evening. i can see how it works in principle, but neither me or the other two guys i was training with could get it to work when the guy on top was doing his best to stay there. i found that once the legs are wrapped around, its extremely difficult to do anything other than cover your head. back control owns.i think that if someone takes your back in a real fight, they're unlikely to think of getting their legs under you, which makes lifting/rolling out of it a lot easier. MizuRyu
Well, if he's close also, you could always slam a thumb into his eye socket. Much easier if he has hair to grab lol. ShotokanKid
Elbows and Knees-If you were to grab for the groin, and he tries to break the arm, great because he has to release the choke to grab the arm, or release the arm that strengthens the choke and you can spin towards your arm.You might have to wedge your hand between his body and your own for the groin grab.If he's working a choke, he probably wont be using a closed fist. It will probably be open to clasp the other hand. (in which case, you're in deep trouble anyway because it's difficult to break that clasp).Fighting the choke is pretty hard. I've submitted people who weigh 80 pounds more and are 6 inches taller than myself with the choke we're talking about here. And the guy was a wrestler. Once it's locked in, it's extremely difficult to fight it, even if you're significantly stronger and bigger.I didn't want to start an argument with you, elbows and knees. I've seen your other posts and I think you've got a significant amount of knowledge and experience in "real situations". I'm just saying what I feel would work in principle. (Once someone's got the RNC locked in, it gets hard to think... I usually just tap). I'll try some of these out with a training partner.
