shotokanwarrior
From watching Royces last fight in the UFC. I would like to know if there is any escapes from that position? Not just a sport BJJ escape but a street fight escape where anything goes. As for me I would try my hardest not to get in that position and give up my back, but once there what can be done? Where Art ends, nature begins.
Jiffy
Bugger all really. I didn't see the fight you are talking about, but I'm guessing you're talking about back control. The problem here is, if they get their hooks in (feet under your legs), you can't flip them over the top. You might be able to use a strike or pressure point on the leg, but they will probably have you in a rear naked choke, so you have very limited time. The best thing you can do is try to lift them and then slam them back into the ground. Other than that..... don't get into that position in the first place.Maybe do a google search for "Escape Back Control" The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open. ShotokanKid
The best thing you can do is try to lift them and then slam them back into the ground. That's what I would try. In a real fight, if they're trying to work a choke, I'd try grabbing the fingers and cracking a few.Or reaching back and grabbing the groin. alsey
i'm no BJJ artist but i don't think there's really much you can do from there. if you do manage to get out of it, then the guy on your back sucks because you really shouldn't lose back control once you've got it.your best bet is to try and get your legs under theirs and try and lift them off or roll out of it. this is certainly what i'd do in a street situation. get my legs under, try to move out one way then suddenly jerk the other way and roll. that will probably be enough against an inexperienced grappler (but certainly not enough against matt hughes ). ShotokanKid
One of my BJJ friends was showing me, if they have their legs hooked around you and they're working a choke, you pull up one of their legs and high as you can and spin so you end in their guard. In a real fight, I'd try to grab the groin, or elbow where ever I can.In a match, I can tap out, no big deal. cathal
OK so the attacker's legs are wrapped around your own legs to the front, right? So where are his arms and head here? .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
Jiffy
There's a couple of different scenario. The main one that works though is, they have their legs wrapped around you, then the feet (eg. the top of the feet) are hooked into the thigh/groin area. The arms will usually be performing a half-nelson or choke. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.

So where are his arms and head here?Head's behind you, arms are working a RNC. Try it with a training partner. You pull the leg up as high as you can and start spinning. I know, it sounds a bit weird but try it. Pull the leg up, twist, turn your head. "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men.
