He wasn't totally flat on his back when he attempted the elevator sweep. He did scoot his hips out, then placed the foot on the hip before getting his hook in to sweep him.

He was flat on his back, certainly in comparison with how upright he needs to be in order to pull that sweep off. Its still nothing short of a very poor setup.

To effectively pull off that sweep, he needs to sit completely upright and scoot his hips back so that if you were to look at him from the top, his head would be closer to you than his hips. At this point he can fight his opponent when he tries to smash into him and sweep him over to the top.

Hey thanks for the info.

Where do you train at triangle man or who is your instructor? You been training for a long time.

Sounds like it. I read a few of your other posts defiently sound like you know what your talking about.

Hi all,

Frank Shamrock has some pretty impressive videos on avoiding takedowns. Based on the few years of judo that I did, they seem pretty realistic.
