When I was fifteen an instuctor for an internal art spent some time in our community, but moved on due to lack of interest. First let me start by saying I believe it is an internal art because of the nature of the techniques invovled. The internal he was teaching was based upon a concept of moving the air from your lungs to other parts of the body. This involved using your ki/chi to manipulate the air through to parts of the body which would be encountering a target (e.g. while punching) or in being struck.

I was wondering if anyone has heard of this, and what it's name is?

I've heard of that..that the air helps manifest ki/chi etc. I thought it was just the typical concept of it though..not anything specific..

yeah, i also thought that was a pretty general concept in internal arts. of course you're not actually moving air around your body, but that's the feeling you should get when you coordinate your breathing properly.

"Gently return to the simple physical sensation of the breath. Then do it again, and again, and again. Somewhere in this process, you will come face-to-face with the sudden and shocking realization that you are completely crazy. Your mind is a shrieking, gibbering madhouse on wheels." - ven. henepola gunaratana

I do believe that as well, but this one was little more specific, referring to breath and wind.

Chi is actually the chinese word for air.

It is believed that by redirecting the blood stream around the body in certain ways, it would increase the nutrients in that part of the body, one of which is oxygen. It is well proven that added oxygen increases muscle performance and therefore power.

No conclusion to my comments, just food for thought.
