the international karate series was pretty good on the ol commodore 64

also had a game on the mega old pc called "bushido" but no one else seems to remember it.

some others i remember are:

final fight

ninja warrior

shadow warrior (also known as ninja gaiden i beleive)

Now you use head for something other than target.

well i have a all fighting videogame collection, so i got alot of things i can tell u.

i did not have all the old sytems u all had because alot of it was B4 my time. but as for curretn games a real good one is jet lei "rise to honer" is great plus no magical gimics. DOA 2 hardcore is pretty good to just not alot of fighters in it. if u like anime/manga naruto is pretty good but, it dose have some mystcle techniques and stuff in it, same for the streetfighter series, and the dragonball Z budokai series. oh and a very good classic is virtue fighterespecially virtue fighter evolution.

you must learn different combinations of techniques down to your very soul and they must come without thinking when you finish with one technique, you must immediately go into another until you have attained your goal which is to destroy the enemy.

I loved the Streets of Rage series for the Sega. Played all three of them endlessly. Crank on the hardest leve, and beat up street punks. Good stress relief.

Also, the "Bash Brothers" series on the Super Nintendo, like Rival Turf and Tuff E Nuff. Fun games, too.

Let's see, Final Fight was great. The Double Dragon games were fun.

I think the best modern fighting games are the Tekken Games. Lots of work went into representing the fighting styles of the characters. Loads of fun!

Not really a pre-Mortal Kombat game, but a good one none-the-less is Comix Zone for the Genesis. The main character, Sketch, gets pulled into his own comic book, and becomes an awesome fighter. The moves in the game are great. I always enjoyed the game.

i loved comix zone. there's that old kung fu dude in the middle that took me absolutely ages to get past.

for games without magic, there was virtua fighter, one of the best fighting games IMO. before MK there wasn't much that was any good though. the side-scrolling games were brilliant but they were a completely different style of game.

"Gently return to the simple physical sensation of the breath. Then do it again, and again, and again. Somewhere in this process, you will come face-to-face with the sudden and shocking realization that you are completely crazy. Your mind is a shrieking, gibbering madhouse on wheels." - ven. henepola gunaratana
