Muay_Thai_COBRA Posted April 26, 2002 Posted April 26, 2002 I'v been training muay thai for about 5 weeks now, training twice a week. do you think in about 3 months ill be ready to enter a tournament?
shadowboxer Posted April 26, 2002 Posted April 26, 2002 No. I don't think an explanation is necessary either.
Bon Posted April 26, 2002 Posted April 26, 2002 Dunno, I was pretty keen to get in the ring when I probably wasn't ready too. Ask your instructor/trainer. Tournaments will help to become a better fighter a lot quickly, but you don't want to be getting your arse kicked real bad either. It takes sacrifice to be the best. There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.
Bon Posted April 26, 2002 Posted April 26, 2002 Actually, I'd go in tournaments regardless of how bad I got my arse kicked or not. If you're prepared for pain, then I'd say go in a tournament. I went in a BJJ tournament after only 2 months of training, I lost, but I also learnt a hell of a lot from it and I've started improving a lot quicker than what I was before the tournament. Playdoughmonkey Posted April 26, 2002 Posted April 26, 2002 I went in a tourney after 5 months, came in third. Now, 2 years later I fight full contact Kickboxing and Love it. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do it. If you think you can do it GO for it.
kicker Posted April 27, 2002 Posted April 27, 2002 Well in three months if you feel confortable in Muay Thai then enter the turniment you well get better but before make sure you spar before so you are ready for the turniment if you go. when you do your best it`s going to show. Lau gar Posted May 6, 2002 Posted May 6, 2002 i'd go for it yeah "man" blue belt Lau Gar Kung fu"know your enemy"
Pacificshore Posted May 7, 2002 Posted May 7, 2002 If you feel that you are mentally and physically ready then go and give it a shot. If you have any sort of doubt, seek the advice of your instructor and listen to what he/she has to say. Just keep in mind that the type of tournament you are entering. You can go in and make it through alright and learn from it, or you can go in and then get carried out and now have a negative impact on your training. Just playing devil's advocate. El Guerrero Loco Posted May 26, 2002 Posted May 26, 2002 of course, i'd prolly lose if i fought such a powerful style like Muay Thai, i'd prefer not to do so under their rulez. But hey man, go for it. Just don't be surpirsed when you get knocked out "Live free.Die well..."
