Anbu Alex Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 i wanted to learn bo after seeing kung fu movies (esspecially Jet li, even though i was always given the spear even in my current art), the katana my friends were training and sparring with it and i was like Man thats kool all the other weapons are apart of the curriculum White belt for life"Destroy the enemies power but leave his life"
KarateGirl1387 Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Our school curriculum actually has us required to learn at least 1 form using the bo staff, so I guess that one was a given for me, hehe. (Plus, the bo is the most versatile weapon and I really like working with it!) After watching my instructors and some of the junior kids working with kamas I decided I wanted to learn those, too. Jiffy Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 I always thought weapons were cool. Then when I started realising the benefits of weapons for Martial Arts it just became obvious. I was amazed at how well the open handed and weapon stuff went together and I was fascinated. Unfortunately, I don't really get enough time to practise with them, but it's fun on the off chance I do. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.

alsey Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 i remember thinking something along the lines of 'man, sword fighting looks cool'. "Gently return to the simple physical sensation of the breath. Then do it again, and again, and again. Somewhere in this process, you will come face-to-face with the sudden and shocking realization that you are completely crazy. Your mind is a shrieking, gibbering madhouse on wheels." - ven. henepola gunaratana
