Here's my thoughts about the recent Ultimate Fight Night:

-Silva rocks!

-Joe Rogan needs to stop raving about leg kicks. Do they hurt? Yes. Have hey ever knocked anyone out? Nope.

-The UFC needs to devise a new scoring system. Example, Bonnar-Rashad fight: The only thin Rashad did was score some takedowns. He probably landed less then 5 good shots on the ground the whole fight, and got beat in the stand-up striking game. Also note that each time they went down, Bonnar immediately pulled guard and totally prevented any damage, while still throwing up a few submission attempts.

While I'm not saying Bonnar won that fight, he certainly didn't lose it. Sorry :-? . He fouught like a BJJ player (which is what he is). To BJJ guys, who scores the takedown is insignificant. It is the actual ground battle that decides the fight, and Bonnar was closer to finsihing that fight that Rashad ever was.

Oh, love the opening crescent kick by Bonnar.

If it works, use it!

If not, throw it out!

Yeah I think Bonnar lost because he didn't entertain, even though techniquely he was fine. To the average viewer who doesn't know fighting, Rashad probably looked in alot more favor. Thats sports though.

I'm glad Silva won the fight...

The lightwieght fight was good since it was stand up all the way, which was nice for a change.

Silva sure doesn't look 185, nor 5' 11". He looks lighter and taller--he must have the densest musculature on the planet. I'd love to see him go against Franklin.

As far as Leben goes, I've never cared much for him and always thought him overrated. Funny to hear his comments before the match and then he goes out and gets destroyed in less than a minute. Sloppy preparation, and sloppy execution against a world class fighter.

I don't like Leben either. I don't care how good (or bad) of a fighter he is, I don't like how he acts outside of the Octagon.

If it works, use it!

If not, throw it out!

silva was very impressive with his stand up game.I would like to see his ground game now.Wow it's been awhile since a fresh fighter came in like Silva did.

And what's up with the one judge scoring 2 fights as a draw.Kumo got totally dominated in his fight and one judge scores is a draw.I wonder what he was basing the fight off of?

UFC scoring is totally ridiculous. Furthermore, no one really knows HOW the bouts are scored expect for the vague "aggression, effective striking, grappling and ocatagon control."

If it works, use it!

If not, throw it out!

Silva has a couple fights on Youtube.com that you can view, including the Leben bout. Someone also put up a highlights video of him. You get a pretty good idea of his ground talents, as well as his standup game. He's definitely a world-class all-around fighter.

I missed the fight but I am glad that Anderson Silva whooped him. I would like to see this guy fight Rich Franklin. But I was reading on UFC.com and it seems like this fight may not happen until 2007. But until then, we can watch Silva clean out the rest of the UFC's middleweight division.
