bushido_man96 Posted June 22, 2006 Share Posted June 22, 2006 I just finished reading Roy Kurban's book Kicking Techniques. The version I have is my dad's original, the third printing done in 1980. Seems so old, but it had good stuff in it. I like his philosophy on kicking, and how he tries to hide the motion of the kicking foot, and use what he calls offsetting balance, and all that stuff.Does anyone know anything about Mr. Kurban, and if he runs an organization, or if he just has his own schools? He studied some in Korea in the 1960's under Park Won-Chik, but studied mostly from Allen Steen's group (if I remember correctly). Park Won-Chik was originally a Jido-Kwan student in the 1950's. He lives in Fort Worth, Texas now, but doesn't teach anything from the Jido-Kwan. He teaches Olympic-type TKD, emphasizing the Tae Guek forms and TKD Yudansha forms now.Roy Kurban still teaches the Palgue forms and the Yudansha forms.
