He was serious at the time. I asked him why and he told me the reason he did it was because I had quit sword fighting with him. I sword fought when I was younger and quit because I realized how easily I could have killed him, or he I. So he attacked me. I quit hanging out with him. The smartest thing I ever did.

Wow, that sounds kind of crazy. Good idea on your part.

wow dude, good decision. you're the first person i ever met/talked to on the internet that's been in a real sword fight.

Mate, if that was me, there would be nothing left to hang out with....

If someone attacked me with a sword, friend or not, they'll be lucky to keep the limb they attack me with.
