training under the grandmaster

Does that happen to be Master Chuck Sullivan? I'd love to train with him - he sounds like a great guy.

Yes indeed it is. He's a great guy, and a masterful tactician. His dog even tried to take a piece of me when I had to use the restroom.

If you ever get the opportunity to take in a seminar, I highly reccomend it. Check https://www.karateconnection.com periodically for dates and times. The last one I was at had the BKF GM's, Dian Tanaka, GM's Sullivan and Leroux, and a host of others.

I nearly got the opportunity to train with Chuck Sullivan recently, but I couldn't make it.

I have had a chance to train with Jeff Speakman a couple of times though, so that's good.

haha, even his dog is good.

I will definetely check that out!

Funny Dian Tanaka story, just because it's nice to have another Kenpo person to tell:

My instructor told her that if she got her nipple pierced, he would - she said yes, which my instructor was totally hoping she wouldn't! Luckily for him, the place they were planning to do it at was closed, and she was leaving the next day, but he never dared her to do anything ever again!

Haha! That is good.

I had the pleasure of training with Ms. Tanaka on a couple of different topics. One I'll never forget was the silat training we were doing and just how she seemed to really love the patterns we were working on. She seemed all to happy to be slicing throat, disemboweling, and finishing with the femoral artery. Kinda reminded me of a kid in a candy store :D

I've heard she's crazy like that. I'd love to meet her, someday! What rank is she up to, now (not like it matters)?

Oh, and it wasn't frayed

You're a funny one!!

I admire, that, too. If you can tell in my video, I wear no rank, other than black, too. Not that I have much to show off, but if/when I do, I still won't.

My black belt still only has one stipe on it, I'm about to grade to third dan. I haven't bothered putting the seond stripe on and will probably have the first one removed.
