WudangDragon
If the pain is in your muscles, when you get home after training, have a cold bath (not freezing - about 1/2 lukewarm water, 1/2 cold). This helps prevent the flow of Lactic Acid into the muscles. When lactic acid settles in the muscles it causes stiffness, pain and often weakness in the muscles which can last for a few days if you're unlucky. Jeet Kune Do
100 push ups and 100 press ups? what is the difference between press up & push up? A drop of sweat spent in practice is a drop of blood saved in a battle.A person who say it cannot be done should not interrupt the man doing it. lordtariel
Make sure you're doing some cool down exercises and stretching after class as well. There's no place like 127.0.0.
jaymac
You just started? You should only be doing what you can and not anymore. You will advance at your own pace. The head instructor should have told you this. Why would he expect someone new to keep up with the rest of the class. This is why many students quit MA before they ever get started, because they feel they cannot do it or keep up. A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others. kikr
take some ibprofen before you start and stretch out before your class stretches out and stretch after class is over. practice breathing while your working your kicks and technique.i am a red bull fanatic so i recomend get an energy drink before class and slam it. mainly though, the extra stretches and breathing techniques will help more than any supplement or energy drink.Thats some great advice. Also when you get home soak in a HOT bath, about as hot as you can stand it. This will help with soreness by increasing the circulation and cycling out some of the lactic acid. Make sure you eat plenty of banana's or drink lots of orange juice, this will help maintain a good level of K+ and keep you from having muscle cramps. Good luck and stay with it!
