shotokanwarrior Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Yes but they now fight in weight classes, I wonder how Matt would do against these bigger stronder brawlers. Where Art ends, nature begins.
granmasterchen Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 i would like to see these guys compete with no weight class limitations That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
Jersey Devil Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 You may have a point about the "late start" thing. But, having rolled with Saulo. The guy is just a freak of nature when it comes to Jiujitsu. Granted...when it comes to BJJ I'm not even close to expert, But rolling with Saulo is like trying to submit a exercise ball. But if you're right about the late start theory...I'll be awesome. Not neccessarily- I can pin an exercise ball.Anyways whats even more amusing is that until he was a black belt, Saulo didnt win a single thing. He was no one special- mediocre at best. Then he gets his black belt and wins 8 world titles.I guess he saved everything up for the end...
DokterVet Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 i would like to see these guys compete with no weight class limitationsPride FC still holds tournaments with no weight classes, and K1 (which Royce is signed to) has open weight matches as well. The problem is getting them sanctioned in the US. 22 years oldShootwrestlingFormerly Wado-Kai Karate
granmasterchen Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 i hope these guys go over and fight, many have retired. That which does not destroy me will only make me stronger
ps1 Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Jersey Devil said:I guess he saved everything up for the end... uhhhh....Yup. That's what I'm doing too "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
UseoForce Posted May 31, 2006 Author Posted May 31, 2006 Hughes would kick butt, weight classes or not. If it works, use it!If not, throw it out!
marie curie Posted May 31, 2006 Posted May 31, 2006 Ok, so I post on a couple BJJ boards and have been in multuple discussions on the topic, but really, everyone has said what's needed to be exceptRoyce is Old.Royce doesn't have professional MMA fights vwey oftenI wish that it didn't make the difference, but it really can. Medici Posted June 1, 2006 Posted June 1, 2006 I figured Royce would lose because of the wimpy UFC rules these days. I didn't expect him to get dominated like that.
Andrew_Patton Posted June 2, 2006 Posted June 2, 2006 the UFC rules aren't 'wimpy' if Royce couldn't have won the match, and by the way he got DOMINATED, what are the differences in the rules? Groin strikes and head butting mainly, not a big enough factor to change the fight into Gracie's favor, oh and his trademark gi, which would easily be used against him nowadays. Royce could never have one this fight, even under rules that dissalowed Hughes from taking it down, working chokes and hitting Royce in the head.
