bigpopparob2000 Posted May 24, 2006 Posted May 24, 2006 It's been a while since I've been back here at KarateForums.com, so I don't know if this video is old news. Anyways, I think it demonstrates the unique values of both grappling and striking, and why an accomplished martial artist should be able to do both. Check it out.http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8530050435368865797&q=jujitsu

bushido_man96 Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 This is an excellent video. It proves some points of a lot of things that we go around about on the forums...1. High kicks can be effective2. Punching is always effective3. Everyone should learn some grapplingThis is great. We can learn how to be effective with high kicks, and what not to do with them. We can learn to mix kicking with takedowns. We also see the effectiveness of low kicking, and striking is always at the forefront of effectiveness. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
DokterVet Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 Great clip. It looks like it's basically MMA with gis.As someone who trains mostly no-gi, I appreciate the self-defence advantages of gi training, so this is really cool to see. There looked to be a lot of skilled fighters there. 22 years oldShootwrestlingFormerly Wado-Kai Karate

There looked to be a lot of skilled fighters there.Yea.. but most of the striking didn't really impress me. Decent Thai Boxer with some BJJ skills would rip them apart. But then, it seems like there were rules against punching the head?
