Try different arts to gain new skills and perspective, but keep at least one MA as your home base. You'll be glad you did as you get older.

Keep going. Trying different forms of a disipline might help you understand everything else, and perhaps assistance on any primary form.

I know that I have mentioned this before, but here it is again: I am so jealous of those of you that have the oppurtunity to study multiple styles. All I have here is TKD and one karate school. No grappling. So I say, enjoy yourself.

But, as Sohan said, stick to a base stlyle as well.

why do they keep their hands down when fighting? is it really because so that they have more stability to do kicks?

if you mean tkd people, couldn't tell ya.

i'm in tkd and am always told to keep my arms in a guard. i keep a closed tucked in guard which keeps my arms and hands out of the way of my kicks. i think keeping your gaurd up is a rule for most arts. i don't know why a lot of tkd guys drop their hands

I was once told that it was because of the force of the kicks in sparring. WTF is full-contact and a reason for lowering the guard is (supposedly) to prevent injuries, as there would be too much damage to the defenders arms if they tried to block. Instead of using their arms to avoid getting hit, WTF fighters are supposed to use their footwork to get out of the ay and not rely on blocking.

I don't know how true that explanation is, but it's as good as any, I suppose.

However, I train WTF and when we are sparring Olympic rules (in fact, generally when we are sparring, whatever the rules) SBN tells us all to keep our guard up. You get push-ups if you don't! :D
