lordtariel
I'm competing in kobudo for the first time in a couple of weeks. Anybody out there judge kobudo competition? What do you look for? Any tips for better scoring? I am doing the bo kata shu shi no kon sho. There's no place like 127.0.0.
Whitefeather
I have never done or judged a Kubodo competition, but if you make sure your movements are fast and crisp (ie no extra wasted movements), then you should not do too bad, at least from what I have seen (which is not a lot). Practice, practice, practice.David "Between genius and insanity, there lies a fine line. daizyblackbelt
oh wow, shu shi no kon sho, haven't seen that one in a whilethe most important thing to remember in any competetive forms division is believability. each strike needs to be at full intensity, every movement needs to seem as if it would be truly effective in the "real world."in traditional japanese bo kata, you must (as whitefeather mentioned) remember to be crisp, snappy, and precise.good luck in your upcoming tournament!
