Kyokushin karate

I Practice Ashihara Karate, aswell as Wado Ryu, I have been told that the Ashihara Karate Kata are very similar to the Kyokoshin advance Kata but I have not seen them would anyone like to advise me on this topic

Does your dojo belong NIKO, AKI, or neither? I'm moving to Japan in September to western Kanagawa (Yamato-city area) and I've heard that there's a NIKO dojo in that area, but don't know for sure. If so, I hope to train there.

I am curious. What are your advanced kata? Then we can go from there to see how close they are to Kyokushin advanced kata.

I practiced shotokan for 3 years until I was 16 and old enough for kyokushin. Still currently doing it, brown belt. it's a very physical style as i'm sure you've heard..and I hated point sparring. But check this video out..one word: awesome.

Through my experience, I believe that karate is karate, we shouldn't talk about the difference in styles....Instead we should appreciate the art of karate.

Well Ashihara Karate was founded by the late Hideyuke Ashihara who was a honbu student of Kyokushin during the 1960s, so it's very likely that the katas are very similar. Those considered 'advanced' in Kyokushin would in my opinion be, Tensho, Saiha, Scienchin, Kanku Dai, Garyu, Seipai and Sushiho.
