marie curie Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 That sounds wonderful! What a great thing to be able to wow your kids, and share something like this with them! I mean, no, maybe these techniques aren't practical, but if you are in MA for excercise or fun, then they are totally accomplishing your goal. Go you! cross Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Personally, i dont see the need for high flying technigues, 360 techniques, cartwheels, etc in martial arts... gymnastics yes, but not martial arts.
MartialArthur Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Personally, i dont see the need for high flying technigues, 360 techniques, cartwheels, etc in martial arts... gymnastics yes, but not martial arts. For most of us, there is no need for martial arts at all. We train because we want to, not because we have to. We do the high flying techniques because we want to and because we can... and they're fun...
jaymac Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 Nice reply MartialArthur! A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.

Anbu Alex Posted May 9, 2006 Posted May 9, 2006 i feel there is a certin connection with other martial artist like a brother hood and it seems like we all can connect on a higher level White belt for life"Destroy the enemies power but leave his life"
cross Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 For most of us, there is no need for martial arts at all. We train because we want to, not because we have to.Why would you even bother training if there is "no need for it"?
younwhadoug Posted May 10, 2006 Author Posted May 10, 2006 i apply my training principles to almost all that i do. marriage, parenting, dealing with people i would rather not know, all that has been improved along woth many other parts of my life. i'd say its a critical tool for me and my family. we just dont refer to self defense in everything we do. there is much more to our system than protecting ourselves. i have heard of systems that are strictly self defense. i have no intention on causing anyone including attackers or any aenemy so much harm that i regret. with all that said, assuming we were similar in experience, i would put our system to the test with yours or any other system. i am that confident and i really don't worry about anyone that could harm me. be polite, be patient, be alert, be brave, do your best, respect yourself and others. "you may knock me down 100 times but i am resilliant and will NEVER GIVE UP"
jaymac Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 younwhadoug, I agree. Martial Arts has made me such a well rounded individual. I incorporate it into all aspects of my life. I feel that it greatly helps me with my temper, especially in the work place. Before MA, I was easily angered and acted on that mood. Now, I think before I react. I still get angry, but I keep it under control. A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.
