Karate: slowed down Kung Fu?

I was watching this video of two guys fighting (https://www.video.google.com), one trained in karate, the other kung fu, the Karate-ka won by at least a few kicks to the head. If Kung Fu is sped up Karate, that guy must've really had bad technique..
