Simo Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 when i first started karate i trained in the gym 3 times a week, tryin to bulk, becuase i thought it wuld benifit my karate. Which in a little way it did, through strength, but personally my opinion wuld b conditioning, because it focuses on your own progression in karate. But it all depends on the person, some say they dont condition because of the effects tht culd happen later in life..like i said my opinion, others my disagree Osu

It is genetics.I'm starting to think that, so I'm going to concentrate more on conditioning...But I will still put in the effort to bulk up, as I want to gain at least 10 killograms. dook sau Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 well bruce lee figured out a way to do both,dont ask how because i didnt read that article but if u look round u should find away its like a finger pointing away to the moon.....dont concentrate on the finger or youu will miss all that heavenly glory
marine0321 Posted May 15, 2006 Posted May 15, 2006 Had the same problem before the marine corp. they fixed that with super sets example: do you bench as normal, do your max weight then rack your bar and pick up light weight dumnbells for flies right after you rack up your bench bar. (no rest)
Toby Posted May 16, 2006 Author Posted May 16, 2006 Dook Sau - Yeah I know he did both, I have watched a lot of his videos and read parts of Tao Of Jeet Kune Do, probably should read it more thoroughly though.Marine - I start off at about 50% of my body weight when I bench press and then build up to my max in a number of sets, each with increasing weight.I do have some medical reasons why it's probably not easy for me to gain weight too.
