lordtariel
I don't know if it's legal in the US. You could certainly get sued over it. If it was legal, it could root out a lot of mcdojo's though. There's no place like 127.0.0.
Whitefeather
As far as I know, with my professional legal opinion (sarcasm), there is no law against trying out a new dojo and challenging the sensei to a friendly match. I have not done that yet, but someday I might give it a try. David "Between genius and insanity, there lies a fine line. P.A.L
once professor Gary Lee challenged our school, i was not practicing with them back then, this is what i was told, he came in with his backpack, with all the books/patches/flages everything, and asked for a challenge or forfeitting and closeing the school so every body could join his new school. anyway sensei was not in since he had his day time job, so they called him and he accepted the challenge, professor stayed till sensei came in and said "let's go" Gary lee " you are not gonna put a Gi on?"-"No this is fine , let's get over it"Mr. Lee got a punch to his throat and got knocked out, he didn't ask for another challenge match and left.http://www.worldblackbelt.com/pages/Mar05.11_GaryLee.asp
Jersey Devil
Challenge matches happen more frequently with BJJ, possibly because of the ground fighting element, and of course, most people, especially those who have trained in other martial arts for numerous years, dont think that someone can take them to the ground. The Gracies were big on proving that their technique worked (and you proving that yours works). All you need to do is suggest that you can stop a takedown or that your style is better, and a challenge match is in order. Its perfectly legal as well- my instructors just be sure to keep a healthy supply of waivers behind the desk so that after someone gets done testing themselves, they cant come back and sue. bushido_man96
I think this is a childish action, and egotistical as well. That's what tournaments are for, and the MMA's. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

MizuRyu
We had an instance in our Wing Chun class where a BJJ practitioner walked in and challenged our sifu, Jeff. The guy left with some really nasty rug burns, Jeff wasted him. When it was all over, the guy shook his hand, and we now know him as Andre, he comes every Saturday lol. I personally don't see why it would be an issue to challenge another school, it can be beneficial to both participants in lots of ways.
