I started taking MA when I was 17. Kung Fu hit TV about 6 months afterwards. For some reason that kept my interest study of MA. I have studied different MA due to achieviing a certain level, a thurst for differernt knowledge and availablity of instructors.

I started training at age 9 in kung fu. I did that for 4 years. My instructor died. I think had he not, I would have done it forever. I loved MA and not because of any single martial artist or movie. I loved everything about it. Forms, self defense, sparring, weapons. I didn't find another school worthy of joining until I was 27. The instructor that I am with now is an amazing individual and an awesome teacher. Again I have found the passion of MA, and loving everything being taught, but Kata is my favorite. What a way to get lost iin yourself by practicing Kata.

A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.

I started in TKD because that was the only thing available to me. I got my first taste of it at a young age when my dad would take me to his classes. I never got a uniform, but the memory of it stuck, and I was hooked for life. I might have been 6 or 7. Later we moved, and had a layoff. A friend of mine in 8th grade said he got started in TKD (it was an ATA club), and got me to go. I ended up staying, and he quit.

I love TKD, and would probably never give it up. I would like to spend time in other styles, but that option is not available to me.

When I started, there wasn't a whole lot of advertising for the club. It was just word of mouth that it was there. And there was no sign of the UFC around yet. I could catch boxing on TV, but could never learn it.

I also liked to watch Chuck Norris movies with my dad when I was young. Eventually watched Van Damme and Segal.

I started when I was 7 14 years ago. I did it because my brother and I wanted to be "ninjas" Hey.. it was during that time when that was cool. We both stuck with it because we loved it, and the competition we had with eachother about who could be better.

My dad taught us mostly, but we merged twice with two other styles.. Which was sweet because at that point we then had my dad's 3 style background and 2 other styles.

I personally love forms I think it's great for balance and putting together movements you wouldn't normally put together.. Not to mention I love the grace and flow that goes with them. But then again I'm a girl and enjoy that anyway. Don't get me wrong, I'm just as into weapons training, and Judo throwing, and kicking... I love the combination of it all. As long as I know there's a reason I'll learn it. :D
