I have been taught the bo and I have trained with it for years. Today I do not train with it much anymore.

It's a big part of our Shorin-ryu training. I would likely never use it in a real world situation, but I still derive many benefits from training with it.

I know five bo katas in all, the three of Isshinryu, and two I have learned from my kobudo instructor.

Probably my favorite weapon to work with all in all.

I train with Bo. I also carry it around as a "walking stick" where I live can be pretty dangerous, very urban. I've even been ambushed by two guys with knives, luckily the bo has length and I'm skilled with it, otherwise I dunno if i'd be telling you guys about it.

If I got jumped, and happened to find a long, skinny piece of something, you better believe I'd be smacking people with it.

Unless, of course, I could find a nice pair of 30" sharp things with handles nearby, in which case I'd dao them all to death. :D
