Yeah Gumdo is a Korean version of Kendo. The same as TKD is a version of Karate, and Hapkido is a version of Ju-Jitsu.

There are a couple of differences, but essentially they all spawned from Japanese MA.

Depends on how you look at it, actually, but this isn't the best place for a history of TKD discussion.

Also, Gum Do would be closer to iaido rather than kendo. Much more emphasis on single cuts, one and two cut one steps, drawing, sheathing, etc. There are partner one steps, but they are nothing like kendo.

Great scott, there are a lot of long-timers here! I thought I was somewhat of a long-timer with 11 years. Looking at some of y'all's lists of credentials, I practically feel like a white belt again!!
