spinninggumby Posted April 19, 2002 Posted April 19, 2002 Rap is fine, rock is fine, even some country is fine. And I like classical and trance and techno too. spinninggumby Posted April 19, 2002 Posted April 19, 2002 Commercialization has nothing to do with quality. Pop music flourishes because it appeals to a great number of people even from varying backgrounds in society (lowest common denominator of interest). However, obscurity or uniqueness has little to do with it either  'Conviction is a luxury for those on the sidelines'William Parcher, 'A BEAUTIFUL MIND'
three60roundhouse Posted April 19, 2002 Posted April 19, 2002 What does being rich have to do with being good? One of my favorite albums EVER, Fungus Amoungus by Incubus, sounds like they recorded it in the shower . I personally can't stand the idea of a person who doesn't have any real musical talent (instruments, SINGING), and a lot of these teen stars these days can't write a lyric to save themselves. It's a sad world. I RESPECT all music, though I cannot say it pleases my ear. I like reading some rap lyrics though - I think Tupac, DMX, and Dr. Dre are all lyrically talentes - now all they need is a guitar? A drum set? A TAMBOURINE ? 1st dan Tae Kwon DoYellow Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu16 Years OldGirls kick butt!
ad Posted April 19, 2002 Posted April 19, 2002 if an album sells its good if it sells, then people like it, which must mean its good if the particular band or label becomes richer, is because more people are liking it , which means that they like the music which means they are talented im sure the majority of the public are buying what they feel is the best music i think selling and commercialisation has alot to do with the quality of the band, if not everything Brown Sash Hsing I/Lau Gar Kung FuBrown Belt San Shou17 yr oldhttp://www.selfdefencehelp.co.uk
Jack Posted April 19, 2002 Posted April 19, 2002 Ad, a lot of people get into that music because it is promoted so much on TV and the radio, and in every part of life so that when you're a kid its very likely you'll get into that music because other sorts of music aren't publicised everywhere. Sort of "Brainwashing" but less menacing, lol. I won't diss anybody, or anybody's music taste - Its just how I feel about some of this music - that people are simply born into listening to it and a lot are too narrow minded to broaden their horizons. ad Posted April 20, 2002 Posted April 20, 2002 i undestand what your saying , and i realise that there are people who just buy music cuz other people are listenening to it, but i think as a whole people buy the music that they like, i just feel that its a coincidence that the music they buy is one of the most popular on the market, but that still doesnt mean that they or me dont broaden our horizon, when i meant rnb and rap "stricktly" , - well i feel that i should rephrase that to just rap and rnb, i do occasionally do listen to other music, i like to try a small sample of everything, but only a small sample, does that make any sense Brown Sash Hsing I/Lau Gar Kung FuBrown Belt San Shou17 yr oldhttp://www.selfdefencehelp.co.uk
Jack Posted April 20, 2002 Posted April 20, 2002 Makes perfect sense. Its a fine line to figure out how they sell so well; some people will like it because they like the music, others will like it because other people like the music, some people will like it because they're unaware of other music types... all very complex, really. three60roundhouse Posted April 20, 2002 Posted April 20, 2002 Ad...there are a TON of great, AMAZING bands who aren't "famous" by any means, and then they compete with some gay ass comercialized stars like "Lil Romeo" or Britney Spears..."I can't believe it's not butter" sort of crap 1st dan Tae Kwon DoYellow Belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu16 Years OldGirls kick butt!
