Oracle Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 The other mistake people make with regard to a good side kick is telegraphing it with a step first.Done right, you should never have to step then kick...a large percentage of fighters always step first.Push off your back leg and thrust. I agree the low to mid level kicks will punish your competition. If people can grab your leg....keep training !!If you want to see a punishing side kick, go to MASLINC.com and watch Joey Greenhalgh's or Jason Tankson Bourelly's side/ax kick and you will understand.
Novak Uros Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Hi...I think the diference in this kick is very good seen on this pictures:Yoko geri keagehttp://www.shotokai.cl/imagenes/tecnicas/keage2.jpgYoko geri kekomihttp://www.karateschoolalken.nl/foto/ralken_kekomi.jpgI think Keage is usefull in real fight, but Kekomi is sometimes good, if not in the fight then for opening locked doors ... Have a nice day...
Jiffy Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Both are good for their intended purpose. Snap is not intended to to smash ribs or knees like a thrust is, but if anyone has ever had a good snap kick delivered to the groin or pressure points under the arm-pit, you will know they work. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
