kenpo4lyfe Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I just got the oppurtunity to study another martial art along with kenpo. Could you tell me which one would be good with kenpo and why. I come to you with only "Karate" - empty hands. I have no weapons; but should I be forced to defend myself, my principles or my honor; should it be a matter of life or death, or right or wrong; then here are my weapons - "Karate" - my empty hands.
patusai Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Perhaps you should ask your instructor. He/she may have better insight. Good luck "Don't tell me the sky's the limit because I have seen footprints on the moon!" -- Paul Brandt
HongKongFooey Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Of the four systems listed, I would pick jujitsu. It would compliment kenpo very well. My second choice would be Muay Thai. Jiffy Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 I would have to agree that Jiu Jitsu would go well with Kenpo. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.

patusai Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 HongKongFooey -- I couldn't help comment on your tag even though my comment had nothing to do with the original subject. It was priceless. Thanks "Don't tell me the sky's the limit because I have seen footprints on the moon!" -- Paul Brandt
UseoForce Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 Take a grappling art to cover kenpo's weaknesses. If it works, use it!If not, throw it out!
parkerlineage Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Jiu jitsu. Hands down. Our system has roots in jiu jitsu. However, we only learn the locks and throws, not ground fighting. So it will accent your previously acquired knowledge, and teach you ways to get out of (possibly) unfamiliar situations.
